Old Photographs, New Paintings Press Release:
"As the 1970s drew to a close a sheltered private school kid living on the Upper East Side took up photography as a way to open a door onto a wider world. During the following half dozen years, while in upper high school and college, he shot over 2,000 pictures on 35mm and 120mm film around Manhattan, as well as Coney Island."
...When the photographer moved abroad shortly after graduating from college, these negatives lay in storage in his childhood apartment for a third of a century until his mother's death, after which they were rediscovered and digitized. This exhibition highlights the best them.
...The retrospective will be augmented with new and recent multi-media paintings by noted New York artist, Travis Egedy under the title 'The Disease of Astonishment'.
